The Camargue, fertile land for fauna and flora, fertile also for the collective imagination.
The postcard images that come to mind are (fortunately) not clichés: majestic flamingos in mid-flight, white horses thrown at a gallop, guards watching over their herds of bulls, whether they are destined for combat or the Camargue race.
