Cloître Saint Trophime

Built in the 12th century and listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, the Saint Trophime cloister is a remarkable example of Romanesque and Provençal architecture. A visit is a must.

The Cloître St-Trophime is famous for its sculpted columns and capitals depicting the Old and New Testaments and stories dear to the hearts of the people of Arles. Located at the end of the archbishop's courtyard, next to the Primatiale and the Roman obelisk, the cloister is a jewel of Romanesque art. Don't forget to climb up to the roof terrace for a lovely view of the church tower and the Town Hall.
To make the most of your visit, we recommend buying a pass (available from our online ticket office), which will enable you to visit the city's various museums and monuments more economically. Guided tours and cultural events take place during each school holiday.

Please note that the entrance to the cloister is via a staircase. It is therefore not easily accessible to people with reduced mobility.
