Vincent Van Gogh

actes-sud-arlesIn search of light, Vincent van Gogh was heading by train to Marseille one day in February 1888 when his train was blocked by snow at Arles station. Then begins a period of intense and passionate work in the midday light. He will create more than 300 works in 15 months, the most productive period of his life as an artist. Among the most emblematic: The Café Terrace in the evening, Starry night over the Rhône, the Bedroom.

While no work is on permanent display in Arles, we find the sets that inspired him at every step. A dedicated pedestrian route. You can borrow it alone or with a guide-lecturer who will tell you about the main stages of his stay in Arles, for better or for worse ...

La Foundation Vincent van Gogh Arles Each year also exhibits paintings by the Dutch master, on loan from the largest international museums.
